This Giving Tuesday, DMB fans turned generosity into impact. Through a special one-day merch sale, the band raised $10,000 to support Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, a groundbreaking community-run rescue center in northern Kenya devoted to rehabilitating and releasing orphaned and abandoned elephants.

Clean Water Brings New Hope to Mitero, Kenya
Through Bama Works' generous contribution, a community of over 4,000 people in Laikipia County, Kenya — including the nearly 200 students who attend the school — now has a reliable, sustainable source of clean water. The final infrastructure setup includes a solar-powered submersible pump; a 10m tall elevated structure with 10,000L of water storage; water distribution points to the primary school kitchen, classrooms, and handwashing stations; a community water kiosk; and a community livestock trough. This well is contributing to increased school attendance, improved health and hygiene, and improved food security in this arid region of the country.

The Dave Matthews Band’s Bama Works Fund is handing out nearly $775,000 to nonprofit groups all around Charlottesville.
The Community Climate Collaborative (C3) is one of 106 nonprofits receiving funding from the initiative.
“We’re very fortunate to have somebody so influential, but also so heavily invested in making sure our community has the resources it needs to be thriving,” said Maggie Davis with C3. “Their grant goes towards our climate action activity kits that we send out to the local fourth and fifth graders.”
The Charlottesville Area Community Foundation (CACF) is helping to distribute the funding.
DAVE MATTHEWS BAND's seeds of hope in Haiti produce harvest of life-changing opportunities
In October 2015, Daniel Germain enrolled in the Excelsior Technical Institute, or ETI. The trade school had just opened and was one of the newest initiatives for FLM Haiti, a nonprofit that provides education and health care services in Haiti. After two years of training in plumbing and electricity, Germain, finished in 2017, part of ETI’s first graduating class. With his new skills, he was able to forge a new beginning, finding a steady job in construction. A job that provided for him and his family.
